Capability Brief
Aplos, Connected to Taskwell
An intelligent finance layer on Aplos: drafts and codes transactions into the right funds, tracks restricted funds, and reconciles continuously.
Aplos keeps your books — funds, transactions, payables, contributions. What it doesn’t do is do the bookkeeping and analysis for you. Taskwell connects directly to your Aplos account and takes on the routine finance work — coding, reconciling, reporting — with a person approving anything that touches the ledger.
The opportunity
Aplos is the system of record for your fund accounting, but keeping it current is still hands-on work: entering and coding transactions, matching funds, reconciling accounts, and building reports for leadership. Because Aplos publishes a secure, documented API across transactions, funds, payables, receivables, accounts, and contributions, Taskwell can sit on top of it as an intelligent finance layer — drafting entries, answering financial questions in plain English, and preparing reports, always under human review before anything commits.
What we’d build
- Assisted bookkeeping. Taskwell drafts and codes transactions into the right funds and accounts, so the books stay current without manual re-keying. A person reviews and approves before anything posts.
- Fund accounting integrity. Restricted and designated funds are tracked correctly and continuously, so designations stay intact and fund balances always reconcile.
- Answers on demand. Ask plain-English financial questions and get an answer sourced from live Aplos data — no waiting on a bookkeeper or a spreadsheet.
“Draft this week’s transactions coded to the right funds, ready for approval.” · “How much did the missions fund spend last quarter versus budget?”
What this unlocks next
Once Taskwell is connected to Aplos, the same link opens up higher-value capabilities with little extra lift:
- Continuous reconciliation. Taskwell watches for mismatches and surfaces only the exceptions that need a decision, turning month-end reconciliation into a short review.
- Payables & receivables. Routine AP/AR work — drafting bills, tracking receivables, flagging what’s due — handled automatically with human approval.
- Audit- & board-ready reporting. Financial statements and board packets assembled on demand, with each entry traceable back to its source.
What you get
- Transactions drafted and coded automatically — with human approval on every entry
- Restricted-fund compliance tracked and reconciled continuously
- Plain-English answers from your live Aplos data
- Month-end reconciliation reduced to a short exception review
- Audit- and board-ready reporting on demand
- A foundation that extends across payables, receivables, and budgeting
Why this is achievable
This is a stable, supported connection — Aplos’s API is built for secure, key-based integration, and Taskwell already runs this pattern in production for other finance stacks. A pilot can be scoped in weeks, and every automated action stays under human review, so you’re never handing the checkbook to a robot.
We start with your single highest-pain workflow — often transaction coding or reconciliation — prove it end to end, then expand across Aplos. The technology is ready; the only question is where to start.
